University Modules

Finally went through the legendary NUS bidding of modules. It was surprisingly better than what I've perceived it to be and i truly enjoyed the bidding process.

Finally, its something that isn't on first come first serve basis. Never ever felt that the 'first-come-first-serve' policy is very fair because i'm a chill tortoise that don't bother waking up at 10am to camp in front of a portal and snatch lecture/tutorial slots and most of the time that's how things work. Nevertheless, I prefer balloting above everything else.

However, bidding adds on an intellectual component to determining which modules you are going to get. It depicts the real world, everything has to be bought (with points/cash), there is no free lunch in the world and opportunities not only work on a first come first serve basis, there needs to be some other factor to determine who wins the opportunity like in the CORS bidding case, the highest points first, followed by those who bid first.

Hopefully the upcoming semester is gonna be a memorable one. Wish me good luck as I'm wasn't as wise to leave my baskets till second semester.  These are the modules I'm taking in the first semester and most likely one of them is going to be my major:

CL1101E Introduction to Chinese Language (want CH1101E, however, a clash in examination timetable deterred me)

EC1101E Introduction to Economics Analysis (my most intended major - however, swayed due to the heavy mathematical content)

PS1101E Introduction to Politics (my second most intended major - however, doubt its usefulness although i must say its very interesting)

HY1101E Asia and the Modern World (a history mod, again, i would love to major in this, but what are prospects? need someone to enlighten me.)

ES1102 English for Academic Purposes (not as if I've a choice to not take this - QET Band 2 ! :( )

GEM1909 Technology and Progress (not like its my first choice it was my 3rd. Would rather take Crusades in history above everything else. Now i'm appealing for FMA though cause from anne frank to changi prison is only offered this semester)

Will do a review of the modules at the end of the semester. Now to prepare for my grand moving in to CAPT. Looking forward to campus life but at the same time, unavoidably, the stress that comes along with it. Till then.

Joan

(A shout-out to my OG Group for CAPT Orientation)
